Christina Lockerby – Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech-Language Pathologist, MHSc, SLP, Reg. CASLPO

Christina is a dedicated and enthusiastic speech-language pathologist registered to practice with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Prior to obtaining her Master of Health Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Toronto, Christina enjoyed an over ten-year career with CNIB, gaining a wealth of experience working with and advocating for families of children and adults with perceptual disabilities.

Christina’s interests in language, literacy and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) were first cultivated after earning an initial Master’s degree in Library and Information Science; she managed CNIB’s National Music Reference Service and became fluent in Literary Braille, as well as Braille Music Notation, to support the ongoing learning and information needs of her clients.

While Christina’s clinical experience includes the assessment and treatment of children and adults with a wide variety of communicative disorders, she has a special interest in working with preschoolers and school-age children in the areas of developmental language, literacy, AAC, voice, fluency, articulation, and motor speech. Christina also has experience working with children with a broad range of developmental disorders, including those on the Autism Spectrum. She is Hanen certified for “It Takes Two to Talk,” a family-focused early language intervention.

Christina is passionate about the importance of family involvement in empowering children with speech, language and literacy difficulties to enable them to reach their full potential and maximize their life participation. For Christina, working closely with and providing support and education to clients and their families is essential to facilitate the development of communication skills and ensure their successful transfer to everyday life.
